The West Ferris Ringette Association's U19A team brought home a silver medal from the Provincial Championships held in Pickering over the weekend.
Competing in the McCarthy division, the 63s went 6-0 during round robin play, scoring 30 goals and only allowing 11 goals against. They showed their dominance early with a decisive 9-2 win over a team from Owen Sound. The winning streak continued with wins against teams from Pickering (3-1), London (3-1), Oshawa (8-3), Gloucester Cumberland (4-2) and Markham (3-2), earning them a bye into the final game against the second place Markham Bears.
The 63's scored early in the final game and kept Markham scoreless for much of the first period. However, Markham stole the momentum early in the second period and the game ended with a 3-1 hard fought loss for our 63's.
After ending last season as the second place team in all of Ontario as a U16A team, this has been a building year for a very young U19A team, with most of the team underage or first year players.
