The West Ferris 63's U16A ringette team continued their winning ways over the weekend by earning a silver medal at a tournament in St. Catharines.

The team came out strong right from the start with decisive 6-1 wins over both St. Catharines and Sudbury in the first two games.

In their third game they dropped a 3-2 decision at the hands of a squad from Forest, Ontario.  Both teams were undefeated coming into the contest.

Undeterred, the girls followed the loss up with a 4-1 win over the Sault Ste. Marie Ice Hawks, that ensured another match up against Forest in the finals.

With both teams vying for their second gold medal of the year, the game became a pitched battle between the determined Forest offence and an equally determined West Ferris defence.

The West Ferris offence came on strong in the second half, but their tying goal in the final minute of the game was called back, giving a tired but proud team another 3-2 loss to Forest and a silver medal.

The girls had previously won gold at a tournament in Oshawa earlier in the season.
