The É.S.C. Algonquin Barons Athletics celebrated another outstanding year garnering 12 NDA Championship Banners, 2 NOSSA championships and hosting the OFSAA Girls A Basketball Championship.
“For a school of our size (478 grade 9 to 12 students) we are very proud or our results," said Algonquin Athletic Director Tim Lowe.
“But I’ve always said that our biggest accomplishment is that we have almost 350 students that played on at least one high school team this year," he added.
“Add in that we have a dedicated coaching staff of teacher-coaches and volunteer coaches that provide a top-notch level of coaching for our students."
Senior athletes of the year were Dominique Baldasaro and Zach Martel, while Kianna Desage and Nicolas Mondor were selected as Junior Athletes of the year. Senior Unsung Hero awards were awarded to Samantha Adams and Adam Howe, while the Junior winners were and Sophie Castonguay and Jordan Kennedy.
The Colin Hood Student-Athlete Awards were given to Baldasaro and Mason Boulanger while the Colin Hood Coach of the Year was bestowed upon Jean-François Renaud.
