1st Annual Northern Ontario Ball Hockey Championships

The Township of East Ferris is pleased to announce that it will be holding the 1st Annual Northern Ontario Ball Hockey Championship on July 15 - 17, 2005. The event will be held at the East Ferris Community Centre in Astorville, Ontario. Adult teams will be coming to the area from all across Northern Ontario, along with local talent being showcased, all competing for the Northern Ontario Ball Hockey Championship.

This type of event is the first of its kind in Northern Ontario. With this tournament, East Ferris plans to increase economic development, tourism and usage to the arena in the summer months. The long-term goal is to have this tournament become part of the Ball Hockey Ontario Tournament Circuit.

There will be both competitive and a recreational divisions. Tournament play will get underway on Friday July 15 at 6:00pm and conclude with the recreational finals on Sunday July 17 at 4:00pm and the Competitive Finals on the same day immediately following the Recreation
Finals. First place in both divisions will receive a grand prize of $500.00 (and t-shirts) with second place taking home $300.00 (and t-shirts).Player of the Game Awards and other prizes will be presented throughout the weekend.

Admission fees for the public is $1.00/day pass, $2.00/weekend pass and $3.00 for the Saturday Night Social held above the arena in the community hall. Team registration is $250.00 / team and all teams are guaranteed four games. This tournament is sanctioned by Ball Hockey Ontario; therefore the ASHI/IDTA Rulebook will be in effect for all tournament games.
