FATAL ACCIDENT
O.P.P. reports a fatal accident yesterday near Parry Sound. At 7:25 a.m., a southbound motorcycle collided with a northbound car one kilometre north of Still River on Highway 69.

A 19-year-old male from North Vancouver was killed on impact. The two occupants of the car are from Etobicoke, Ontario. They received minor injuries and were taken to West Parry Sound Hospital for treatment.

No names have been released as yet pending notification of next of kin.

Police say a sudden hailstorm contributed to the accident. The highway reopened for traffic at 1:30 yesterday afternoon.

ROAD CLOSED TO TRANSPORTS
Transport trucks are being prevented from travelling along Hwy 17 approximately six kilometres east Mattawa due to a low-hanging hydro wire stretching across the road, Ontario Provincial Police said.

The wire came down after a transport caught hold of it and pulled it down part way along with the hydro pole. Hydro crews were called in to make repairs but it's not known how long the work will take.

Cars are still able to get through and officers are on scene for traffic control.
