Break-in to outbuildings

The North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating break and enters to outbuildings at a residence on Voyer Road, Municipality of East Ferris.

Unknown person(s) entered the buildings sometime during the night on March 25, 2016. An Otter sleigh with blue runners was stolen.

Forensic Identification Unit (FIU) attended the scene to assist with the investigation.

Collision leads to impaired charge

NIPISSING TOWNSHIP – On March 25, 2016 at approximately 7:10 p.m., a member of the Powassan Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 534, Nipissing Township.

Upon further investigation the driver of the vehicle, Larry Owens, 55, Nipissing, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired – motor vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code (CC).
  • Driving with more than the 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the CC. 

His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle he was operating was impounded for seven (7) days.

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, on April 19, 2016, to answer to his charge.

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
