Collision on South Shore Road results in charges

CHISHOLM TOWNSHIP – On December 24, 2015, members of the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision on South Shore Road at approximately 11:26 a.m. 

Investigation revealed that the vehicle had been driving all over the road before taking the ditch. Officers detected an odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath and the driver was arrested at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, Wayne HOLLANDS, 77 years of age, of North Bay has been charged with Impaired Driving and Driving with more than 80mgs of Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code.

The driver was released on a Promise to Appear to attend the Ontario Court of Justice North Bay on January 12, 2016. He was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 7-days. 

Collision on Hwy 17 results in charges

NIPISSING FIRST NATION – On December 28, 2015, members of the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 at approximately 11 a.m. 

Highway 17 was closed for approximately one hour at Trap and Skeet Road where the two-vehicle head-on collision occurred. 

The North Bay Fire Department also attended to extricate a driver who had been trapped in one of the vehicles. 

Both drivers were brought to the North Bay Regional Health Centre for non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Mathieu GAGNE, 26 years of age, of Ottawa has been charged with Careless Driving, contrary to Section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act.
