Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a North Bay resident following an investigation relating to allegations of uttering threats.

Male charged following investigation

ORILLIA - Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a North Bay resident following an investigation relating to allegations of uttering threats.

On Aug. 31, 2017, the OPP received a request from the Chief of Espanola Police Service to conduct an investigation into a matter that occurred in Espanola on Aug. 29, 2017. The investigation was referred to Professional Standards Bureau with the assistance of the North East Region Criminal Investigations Unit.

As a result of the investigation, the OPP have charged a male, 47 years of age, of North Bay with two counts of Uttering Threats contrary to section 264.1(1) of the Criminal Code. His name is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim.

He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Oct. 23, 2017.

The OPP will not comment further in order to protect the integrity of the investigation and the ongoing court processes.
