ACCIDENT AT CONISTON CLOSES HIGHWAY

There has been a serious accident that has closed highway 17 at Coniston. The accident, involving a tractor-trailer unit and a passenger van, will likely keep the highway closed for several hours.

Traffic is moving, although slowly, through a detour involving several roads in Coniston. O.P.P. officers are on the scene but there are no details available as yet.



MISCHIEF INVESTIGATED/75 VEHICLES CHECKED IN R.I.D.E.

North Bay OPP is investigating an incident that took place sometime over this past weekend on the South Shore Road in East Ferris Township in which windows were broken to a houseboat.
The homebuilt houseboat was moored at a dock on South Shore Road, Lake Nosbonsing on Friday, Oct. 24th, 2003. The owner discovered that someone smashed all the windows on the boat sometime during the weekend.

Police continue to investigate this matter.
Officers from the North East Region Traffic and Marine Unit out of North Bay conducted R.I.D.E. checks overnight on Highway 11 and on the Bypass.
Seventy-five vehicles were checked and two 12-hour suspensions were issued.
