ARE YOU READY FOR WINTER DRIVING

Winter is around the corner and your vehicle should be ready for the changing road conditions.
Your vehicle should be equipped with properly inflated winter tires having good tread.
Each small area of rubber that contacts the road surface is all that is available to control or stop your vehicle; it needs to be effective.
Windshield wipers should be in good working order and all vehicle fluid levels should be checked so that they have the appropriate working temperature and volume.
Maximize your visibility, drive with your lights on, even in daytime.

Winter driving conditions requires an adjustment from regular dry pavement motoring.
Snow, slush and ice mean stopping distances are greater, therefore increase the space between you and the vehicle ahead.
Steer smoothly and brake gradually to maintain control and avoid locking the wheels and entering a skid. Slow Down! When road conditions decrease, so should your speed. Hurrying to get home to get out of the weather, could just speed you into the ditch.
It’s not worth the few minutes you might save.
