Suspicious fire under investigation

MUNICIPALITY OF EAST FERRIS – At approximately 5 a.m. on May 7, 2016, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North Bay Detachment, OPP Scenes of Crime Officer (SOCO) and Municipality of East Ferris Volunteer Fire Department responded to a residential fire on Astorville Road in the Municipality of East Ferris.

An investigation is being conducted with the assistance of OPP North Bay Crime and the Ontario Fire Marshalls (OFM) office.

The origin of the fire is suspicious in nature, and the investigation is continuing. The residence was vacant at the time of the fire.
