Traffic complaint leads to impaired charge

On Mar. 6, at 10:31 p.m. the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint from a motorist travelling westbound on Highway 17 in East Ferris Township. OPP responded and the motor vehicle was located and stopped on HWY 94. 

Nicholas Seguin, 29 of East Ferris Township, was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC). He was also charged with drive motor vehicle with over 80mgs contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the CC.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the North Bay Court of Justice on Mar. 14, 2017.

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.

Family dispute leads to assault charges

On Mar. 3, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. an altercation occurred between family members in Phelps Township. In the altercation a male and a female were assaulted. 

Police were contacted and as a result a 31-year-old male was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC).

The accused was held in custody until Mar. 5, 2017 when he was released following a bail hearing.

The accused in scheduled to appear before the North Bay Court of Justice on Mar. 14, 2017.
