BREAK-IN TO CAMPER ON MCCONNELL LAKE ROAD NORTH BAY – On March 11, 2016, a break-in to a camper at Blue Lake Campground, McConnell Lake Road, was reported to North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

BREAK-IN TO CAMPER ON MCCONNELL LAKE ROAD

NORTH BAY – On March 11, 2016, a break-in to a camper at Blue Lake Campground, McConnell Lake Road, was reported to North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Sometime between March 5, 2016, and March 11, 2016, unknown suspect(s) broke into the camper stealing numerous items including a Savage 410\22 combo firearm, Lagostina pots and pans, Canada Customs ball cap, alcohol, CDs, DVDs and bedding.

Members of the OPP Forensic Identification Unit are also assisting in the investigation.

DRIVER FACES MULTIPLE CHARGES

POWASSAN – On March 11, 2016, at approximately 10 p.m., a member of the Powassan Ontario Provincial Police was on general patrol when he noticed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. 

The vehicle was stopped on Highway 11, South Himsworth Township, and, upon further investigation, the driver, Jonathan STRIPAY, 30, Powassan, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired- Motor Vehicle (Alcohol), as per section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Driving with More Than 80 Mgs. of Alcohol in Blood, as per section 253(1)(b)CC
  • Driving while Disqualified - Court Order, as per section 259(4)CC
  • Race a Motor Vehicle, as per section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
  • Driving While Under Suspension, as per section 53(1) HTA

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on April 5, 2016.

BUILDING BROKEN INTO ON VILLAGE ROAD

MUNICIPALITY OF EAST FERRIS – On March 13, 2016, at approximately 10:00 p.m., a burglary alarm was set off in a building on Village Road, Municipality of East Ferris Township.

North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended the scene, but the culprit(s) had fled.  A beer can was located in one of the rooms of the building.
