Collision leads to impaired charges

On January 4, 2016 at approximately 5 p.m., North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to an accident on Highway 17, City of North Bay

It was reported to police that a cab was stopped at an intersection light when it was rear-ended by another vehicle. 

Police arrived at the scene and upon further investigation, Roger LAURIN, 55, of Sturgeon Falls, was arrested and charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired-Motor Vehicle, section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);

  • Driving with More Than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood, section 253(1)(b) CC

  • Careless Driving,  section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on January 19, 2016.
