Collision leads to impaired charge BONFIELD TOWNSHIP – On April 8, 2016, at approximately 8 p.m., members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17, Bonfield Township.

Collision leads to impaired charge

BONFIELD TOWNSHIP – On April 8, 2016, at approximately 8 p.m., members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17, Bonfield Township.

Upon further investigation, the driver of the vehicle, Andrew Lay, age 28, of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired – Motor Vehicle, contrary to the Criminal Code (CC).
  • Driving with More Than 80 Mgs. of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to the CC. 

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, on April 19, 2016, to answer to his charges.

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol or drug consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
