SEATBELT BLITZ Ontario Provincial Police in North Bay checked 5,471 vehicles from Sept. 26th to Oct. 5th, 2003, as part of the fall seatbelt initiative. Twenty-four seatbelt charges have been laid so far.

Ontario Provincial Police in North Bay checked 5,471 vehicles from Sept. 26th to Oct. 5th, 2003, as part of the fall seatbelt initiative.

Twenty-four seatbelt charges have been laid so far. Ninety-three of the vehicles were checked for child seats, and they were all in compliance.

The seatbelt campaign continues until Saturday. Remember: ‘Seatbelts Save Lives’.

BREAK AND ENTERS
OPP North Bay is investigating a break and enter that occurred early Sunday morning between 12:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. at Wheelers Restaurant on the Village Road, in Astorville. Thieves entered the restaurant and made off with a number of items including an undetermined amount of cash and cigarettes. Police are continuing their investigation.

Mattawa OPP is investigating a break-in that occurred at a Burke Drive residence in Mattawan Township.
Someone broke into a camp at 88 Burke Drive sometime after midnight Saturday,and made off with hatchet and a Maglite flashlight.

Police are continuing their investigation.
