On June 16, 2016 at approximately 4:30 p.m., members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of an incident involving a traffic complaint involving a transport.

Break-in at residence

MUNICIPALITY OF EAST FERRIS – Members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment and Crime Unit along with the assistance of OPP Forensic Identification Services are investigating a break, enter and theft from a residence on Waukegan Road, Municipality of East Ferris.

Unknown culprit(s) forced open the front door to gain entry into the residence between, July 16 at 4 a.m. and July 17 at 2 p.m. Stolen were an undisclosed amount of cash and an assortment of jewellery including a three band ring with a large diamond.

While this investigation is underway, police would like to remind the public of the importance of securing your property. 

Charges laid in school bus traffic complaint

NORTH BAY – On June 16, 2016 at approximately 4:30 p.m., members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of an incident involving a traffic complaint involving a transport.

A thorough and lengthy investigation revealed that an eastbound transport passed stopped vehicles that were behind an eastbound school bus which was stopped with its overhead red signal-lights flashing and stop arm out.  The transport swerved into the westbound lane almost hitting a parent waiting to cross the road.

On July 18, 2016, Jonathon Compton, 45, Etobicoke, was issued a Provincial Offence Notice with the following charges:

  • Careless driving, contrary to section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA); and with
  • Fail to Stop for School Bus contrary to section 175(12) HTA.
