Mattawa area man charged with numerous sex offences

A Papineau-Cameron Township man faces a number of sex charges after an investigation at a Midland hotel.

OPP responded on the morning of. March 1 to a report of inappropriate activity towards paying motel guests by the manager of a Midland area motel.

An investigation was started and it was learned that a number of offences had occurred dating back to April, 2018 involving Midland area residents at this same motel.

Dharmesh Patel, 38, of Papineau-Cameron Township, near Mattawa, was arrested on June 17, has been charged with:

  • Six counts of communicating with anyone for the purpose of obtaining sexual services
  • Three counts of procuring 

Patel was released from custody after appearing before the video bail court and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on Aug. 27.

Police are still looking for other witnesses.
