Second person dies from apartment fire in Collingwood, Ont.

COLLINGWOOD, Ont. — Provincial police say a second person has died following a fire in a Collingwood, Ont., apartment building.

Police say 89-year-old Ruth Hall died in hospital and an autopsy found smoke inhalation was a contributing factor.

Another person died at the scene of the blaze last week. That person has since been identified as 61-year-old Mary McOuat.

Police say the fire broke out in the four-storey apartment building in the early hours of Sept. 20.

They say a joint investigation with the Office of the Fire Marshal is now concluded.

Police say the fire is not considered suspicious.
