Halton Regional police say a 70-year-old man has been arrested after a woman was found dead in her Burlington, Ont., apartment.

Police say officers were called to a home late Friday morning for reports of an unconscious woman in the unit.

The force says it found the woman inside and pronounced her dead.

Police say an investigation led to the arrest of a 70-year-old man and charges against him are pending.

The Halton Regional Police Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation and says it will provide more details at a later date, but the woman's name will not be released at her family's request.
