WOOD, Bertha

Bertha 'Toots' Jacqueline Wood (nee Middleton) Born December 31, 1931 deceased January 5, 2023 in her 92nd year. The family is saddened that Toots passed away in her sleep just after celebrating her 92nd birthday on December 31st.

Dear mother of Ken Wood (Laurie) of North Bay, On and Darryl Wood (Diana) of Skead, On. Toots was the eldest daughter of Beulah Middleton (nee Rogers) and Lawson Middleton. Sister of Lorraine Lamb (Garnet), Matheson, On and predeceased by siblings Rodger (Bud) Middleton (Vi), sister Betty Middleton and infant brother Kenny Middleton. Mom was loved by grandchildren Scott Wood (Grace) and Great Grandchildren Juneau and Ada; Mark Wood (Andrea) and Great Grandchildren Finn and Emmanuelle; Derek Jackson (Silvie) and Great Grandchildren; Brent Jackson (Melissa) and Great Grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews will also miss Aunt Toots, especially Dixie and Silvia with whom she kept in close contact.

Everyone that knew Toots knew that she was an avid animal lover throughout her entire life and cared for all types of animals over the years. She left behind her twelve-year-old poodle, Jett who adored her. Toots lived most of her life in the Charleton/Englehart area and spent the last nine years living between Skead and North Bay where she spent time with her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an independent woman who lived on her own until her passing.

Mom's final care has been entrusted to Buffam Leveille Funeral Home, Haileybury, ON. A private family graveside service will be held sometime in the spring.
