Dr. William “Bill” George White, at 90 years of age, passed peacefully on Wednesday, September 11th, 2019 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre with his wife and children by his side.

Bill was born on October 8th, 1928 in the New Liskeard, Ontario home of George and Muriel [Tittensor] White.  On March 14th, 1953 he married Kathleen Stuart Nixon in North Bay, Ontario. After graduating from New Liskeard High School he attended the University of Toronto. Bill graduated from U of T Dentistry in 1961 and moved his young family to Goderich, Ontario. In 1970 the family returned to New Liskeard where Bill and Kathleen lived until 2015 when they moved into the Empire Living Centre in North Bay.

In his youth Bill played baseball and hockey with a passion, which translated into being a lifelong baseball fan. He played golf until his mid-80’s with a revolving crowd at New Liskeard Golf Course. His finesse with his hands produced a legacy of re-finished antiques and stained glass creations. A perpetual handyman, he would never shy away from a project particularly at the cottage on Lake Temiskaming.

Family gatherings and social events always transformed Bill into a playful and animated prankster that endeared him to many. He was a man without pretense. Bill possessed strong convictions especially when it related to his sweet tooth and dislike of vegetables.

He was predeceased by his parents; in-laws, William and Ethel Nixon; brother-in-laws, George Bedrosian, Ray Lefebvre and John Nixon; sister-in-laws, Nonie Ketchum and Peggy Gualtieri.

He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen; his sister Nancy [Babe] Lefebvre of Cambridge, Ont.; his two daughters, Susan White of Punta Gorda, Florida, Margot Despres and husband Armand of North Bay, Ont.; his two sons, Michael White of Calgary, AB., Nick White and wife Cindy Anderson of Surrey, BC; his four grandchildren, Megan Sears and husband Jason of Astorville, Ont., Adam Despres of Toronto, Ont., Chloe White of Victoria, BC and Riley White of Guelph, Ont.; his two great grandchildren Mya and Brynn Sears of Astorville, Ont.; as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

The family extends a special thank you to the Empire Living Centre staff and North Bay Regional Health Centre Doctors and staff for their attentive and compassionate care.

A time of gathering will be held on Saturday, October 5th, 2019 from 1:00 until 3:00 pm with time of remembrance from 2:30 to 3:00 pm at Perrin Funeral Home in New Liskeard, Ontario.

In keeping with his wishes his body was bequeathed to the University of Toronto for anatomical study and medical research.
