WANAMAKER, Milford Joseph

Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, Milford Joseph (Mike) Wanamaker died at North Bay General Hospital (Scollard Site) on Thursday, October 23, 2003, in his 84th year. He is survived by his loving wife, Ilene, his daughters, Caro McLeod, North Bay, Danielle Laporte, Barrie and Patty Faulknei (Peter) Goulais River and his sons Michael, North Bay and Peter (Debbie), Goulais River. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren; Laurie, Bob and Mark McLeod, Christine Hannah, Cathy Smith, Steven Wanamaker, Carla Bodin, Carle and Brandi Czyz, Melissa Fidler, Erik Faulkner, Shawn Aaron and Jennifer Wanamaker and 13 great-grandchildren. His sisters, Eileen Aistrop, Valerie Bond and Margaret White of Barrie and his brothers Mike of Innisfil and Pat of Barrie will sadly miss him. He was predeceased by his parents Margaret and John Wanamaker and his brother John. Mike was born in Durham, Ontario on April 26, 1920. He was a World War II veteran and former Captain with Algonquin Regiment. A long time employee of Johns-Manville in North Bay, Mike served as curator of the North Himsworth Museum in his retirement. As a member of the Callander Horticultural Society, he enjoyed participating in the construction and maintenance of Memory Tree Park. He was an avid bird watcher, camping enthusiasl and gardener. Visitation at McGuinty Funeral Home, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. There will be a vigil service, Sunday at 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alphonsus’s Church, Monday at 2 pm. Cremation will follow at Forest Lawn Crematorium. Interment of cremated remains at Callander Cemetery. As expression of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations to the Kidney Foundation or the North Bay General Hospital Fund.
