Donald Valiquette of RR 4, Eganville in his 80th year. A veteran of WWII, Gunner Valiquette served in the 14th Field Regiment 3rd Division. He took part in the Normandy Landing on D Day, June 1944 and served in Holland, Germany and France. Beloved husband of 58 years of Rita (nee Conrad). Son of the late Matthew and Rachael (Davidson) Valiquette. Loved father of Robert (Carole) of Orleans; Paul (Lynn) of North Augusta and Lynne of Ottawa. Dear Grandpa to Natasha, Jeremy, Bryan, Nicole and Amy Valiquette and Ryerson Warren. Don is survived by his sisters Winifred Donnelly and Betty Lawrence of Kapuskasing, Mildred Langsford of Kingston, Glen Osbourne of Cobden, Jessie (Lew) St. Louis and Claire Valiquette of Renfrew and by his brothers Reverend Roy Valiquette of Renfrew; Garnet (Pierrette) of Thunder Bay; William (Cathy) of Kapuskasing and Dan (Geraldine) of Eganville. He will be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law Alma Micus of Kanata, Lorne and Grace Conrad of Powassan, Geralda and Dan Hinschberger of North Bay; Maurice and Yvonne Conrad; Lloyd and Onide Conrad, and Monica Conrad of Sudbury; Walter and Brenda Conrad of Carp, Des and Claudette Conrad of New Liskeard; Steve and Elaine Conrad, North Bay; Hilda Valiquette, Deep River; Dr. H. Gerald Wagar, Kingston. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Allan, sisters Drusilla Henderson and Geraldine Wagar; by brothers and sisters-in-law Ernie Donnelly, Ed Lawrence, L.T. Osbourne, Frank Langsford, William Henderson, Louise Bessette, Clarence and Mervyn Conrad and by his parents-in-law Arthur and Cecilia (Hummel) Conrad. Resting at the Laundry Funeral Home, Eganville, on Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4:30 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. James the Less Church, Eganville, on Saturday, April 24th at 2 p.m. Spring interment in St. James Cemetery.
