Mr. Art Thompson died peacefully at Eastholme, Powassan on Saturday, May 22, 2004 in his 83rd year. Art was the beloved husband of Nancy Rose Kathleen (Minchin) of Powassan and father of Donald Thompson (Elizabeth, deceased) of Vancouver, British Columbia, Lynda Baker (Shane) of Huntsville, Ivan Thompson (Natalie) of Smithers, British Columbia, Ruth Young (Boyd) of Burns Lake, British Columbia and Sherwood Thompson (Susan) of Burlington. He was the loving grandfather of seven grandchildren. Art was the dear brother of Walter of Williams Lake, British Columbia, Edwin of Prince George, British Columbia, Isabelle Ohrling of One Hundred Mile House, British Columbia and was predeceased by brothers Fred, George, Horace, Lindsay and Keith. The family will receive visitors at the Paul Funeral Home in Powassan (705-724-2024) on Friday, May 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, May 29th, 2004 at 2 p.m. by Reverend John Lockyer at St. Mary's Anglican Church. Cremation to follow with interment of ashes at Powassan Union Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made in Art's memory to the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
