Theriault, Aurore - combined

Colette passed away at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at the age of 64 years. She was the loving mother of Theresa (Edward Hawke), Nicole Pasquino (Rohan Brial), Amelia (Nick Roscoe) and Jenna Therriault. She will be sadly missed by her 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Also survived by her three sisters Pauline (Bill Shelsen), Joan and Carol. Colette was predeceased by her parents and three brothers.  Colette was a dear friend to many, especially Brittnay.

Affectionately known to many as Momma T, she was an incredible woman and a fierce survivor. From a young age, after the death of her mother, Colette learned perseverance and overcame many obstacles throughout her life. She was a single mother with four daughters who worked many jobs.

Colette returned to school as a mature student.  She graduated with honours from Sir Wilfrid Laurier University as an art history major and went on to attend Nipissing University where she obtained a Bachelor of Education degree. Colette was only able to pursue her teaching career for a short time before her illness unfortunately progressed. Throughout her illness she fought a long, hard battle and advocated strongly for herself.

Colette was an avid gardener and loved being in her gardens.  She worked as a landscaper for many years and her own gardens were even recognized by North Bay Blooms. She truly was one of a kind, a free spirit, free willed, a force to be reckoned with and could sing like Janis Joplin.

Colette always gave back no matter how little she had. She never walked past a Salvation Army kettle without putting something in. For years, she also made donations to The Mouth & Foot Painting Artists, The War Amps and various food banks.

Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at PHARA, VON, LHIN and the North Bay Regional Health Centre. Your hard work, patience and special care of our mother during her final journey was greatly appreciated. Thank you to Kelly & Debbie for being such great neighbours to Mom.  To Dr. Jinnah & Dr. Lukomska, thank you also for your kindness and wonderful support of Mom.

As per her wishes there will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, if desired, her family would very much appreciate that you make a donation in memory of Colette to any of her favourite charities, Big Brother Big Sisters of North Bay, Amelia Rising, or to a charity of your choice. Alternatively, in Mom’s honour, consider “paying it forward” and be kind to someone who needs it.

Lastly, always remember to live life to the fullest and take time to smell the flowers or just buy the flowers because you deserve it!
