Posted

It is with sadness that The Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie announce the death of Sister Mary Anne (Anna Kusy) on Friday, June 4, 2004, in the Infirmary of St. Joseph's Motherhouse, North Bay, Ontario, surrounded by Sisters. Sister Mary Anne was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and entered The Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie in September 1943. A teacher and artist, Mary Anne ministered in schools throughout Northern Ontario, including North Bay, Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay and Sturgeon Falls. Sister spent several years in Parish Ministry in Welland, Ontario with her twin sister, Sister M. Euphrasia. They later resided at the Christ the King Apartments in Sudbury, where they ministered to the residents of the building. Sisters Mary Anne and Euphrasia moved home to the Motherhouse in 1997. Since that time, Sister Mary Anne has resided in the Infirmary. Artists, Sisters Mary Anne and Euphrasia designed congregation pins, cards and fine artwork. They are also remembered for their strong advocacy of children and the poor. Since the death of Sister Euphrasia in 1999, Sister Mary Anne longed to be with her once again and deeply mourned her loss. It is with joy we acknowledge their reunion in Heaven where we know Mary Anne will once again be at peace. Sister Mary Anne was predeceased by her parents, Theodore Kusy and Catherine Krevonos, a brother William, twin sister Eva (Sister Euphrasia) and another sister, Jean. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
