Peacefully, with her family by her side, during the early morning hours of Friday, the 25th day of January, 2019, in her 91st year.  Beloved wife for 69 years of the late Santo Scarfone who passed away on August 11, 2018.  Dear mother of Rocco (Robin), Josie Tarsitano (Frank), Joe (Sue) and Rosemary Fitzsimmons (Shawn).  Loved sister of Gina Repaci (Domenic), Maria Caliciuri (late Vincenzo), Francesca Morabito (late Giovanni), Teresa Fucile (Tony) and Sam (Patti) and the late Antonetta D’Agostino (Sam) and Santo (Melinda).  Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Krista (Mark), Phillip (Kelly), David (Helen), Karen (Ben), Peter (Samantha), Anthony (Sandy), Diana (Shawn), Marco (Chuana), Lindsay (Mike), Allison, Anna and Kayla (Adam) and her great-grandchildren Lukas, Nathan, Joey, Danica, Nico, Theodora, Yianna, Levi, Ellie, Francesca, Maleena and Santo.  Loved by many nephews, nieces, brothers in-law and sisters in-law.  Our parents were born in a small village in Southern Italy, Santo Stefano, Aspromonte, Reggio Calabria, Mom born on May 4, 1928 to Giuseppe Scarfone and Michelina Morabito.  They were married on September 11, 1949 after Dad served in World War II.  Together with their first born child, Rocco, they left Italy in 1953, arriving at the historic Pier 21, Port of Halifax, Nova Scotia, travelled by train to North Bay and made their home on Douglas Street for the last 69 years.  They were always friendly and welcoming people, who were deeply proud and passionate about their Italian family values and traditions - large family gatherings, traditional foods with an unwavering love for their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family.  Ours was a traditional Italian family, our mother was a gentle, humble and nurturing woman who stayed at home raising her children while our father worked at the Canadian Pacific Railway.  As Nonno and Nonna, they were always part of their grandchildren’s upbringing, looking after them while parents worked, bringing them to and from school and being with them throughout their lives.  The family will receive friends at the McGuinty Funeral Home, 591 Cassells Street, on Monday January 28, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Funeral Mass at St. Peter’s Church, 299 Airport Road, 11 o’clock Tuesday morning.  Rite of Committal, All Saints Mausoleum.  A reception will be held at the Davedi Club, afterwards.   Interment beside her late husband in St. Mary’s Cemetery, later in the afternoon.  (Contributions to the Near North Palliative Care Network would be sincerely appreciated.)   Ti Vogliamo Bene! Sempre Nel Nostri Cuore! We Love You!  (Our thanks are extended to Father Rex Lumine, Reverend Mr. Al Falconi, Rose Joly, Dr. Katarzyna Lukomska, Dr. Tanya Shulman, Dr. Darren Saunders and the staff of the Critical Care Unit, particularly Val, Laurie and Monica for their wonderful comfort and care of Mom.)
