Died peacefully in her 95th year on Thursday, May 27th, 2004 at the North Bay General Hospital with family by her side. Alice was predeceased by her husband Alvin Newman. Loved by her children, Alice will be sadly missed by Douglas (Lane), Phoenix, Arizona, Robert (Kathryn), North Bay and Donald (Molly), Moncton, New Brunswick. Lovingly remembered by her 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. also survived by her brothers Harold (Margaret), Ancaster, Ontario and Lloyd (Bertha), Hemet, California. A retired teacher, Alice taught many years at Chippewa Secondary School in the Home Economics Department. She was active in the community, being involved with the Horticultural Society, Canadian Club, Trinity United Church, Calvin Presbyterian Church and the Superannuated Teachers of Ontario. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from City Hall) on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church on Monday, May 31st, 2004 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Terrace Lawn Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Calvin Presbyterian Church Building Fund would be greatly appreciated by her family.
