Ida, 97 passed away peacefully at home in North Bay, Ontario on August 21, 2016. This trail blazing woman entered the world on April 5th, 1919 in Buckingham, Quebec. She and her siblings were raised by their parent’s, Blanche Riopelle (deceased 1963) and William Lalonde (deceased 1970). She spent most of her youth in Northern Ontario and Quebec. Ida married Ted Moran on February 17, 1941 and was happily married for 52 years until the “love of her life” passed away on September 30th, 1993. Ida and Ted were residents of Virginatown, Sudbury and Sarnia Ontario. They also spent 17 enjoyable winters in Florida. Ida was an entrepreneur before her time…a successful business woman. Her career began with owning and operating a pool hall in Virginatown and the Sudbury Maternity Shop in Sudbury. She was also a prominent Real Estate agent from 1959 until she retired from her work life in 1977. Prior to it being the norm, Ida was able to balance work and motherhood. She had two wonderful children; Patrick Moran (deceased 2010) and Maureen Daigle (Halifax, Nova Scotia) who was fortunate to be with her mother till the end. Ida is survived and will be sadly missed by her granddaughter Karen (husband Jamie Grasser) son-in-law Fernand Daigle, grandson Zack Daigle (Nicole Doiron) and great grandchildren Becky Grasser and Jake Grasser. She will also be missed by her brother Bill Lalonde and his wife Arthemise of Orillia as well as many nieces and nephews and friends…especially Shirley Glass who was a constant companion in Ida’s later years. She is predeceased by her sisters Mable Saucier (2012) and Alice Levesque (1992), and her brother Al Lalonde (1997). A private celebration of Ida’s life will be held on Sunday August 28th, 2016.
