MILLS, David Garnet

The Mills’s family sadly announces Dave’s death on Friday August 11, 2017, at the age of 77 years.  Dave died peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Center, surrounded by his family, following a difficult struggle with cancer. For the past 56 years he had been the beloved and devoted husband of Suzanne (nee Watling).  The proud and loving father of Garnet, Marilyn, and Pamela and her husband David Kitsch.  Dave held a special place in the hearts of his grandchildren Tessa, (who predeceased him in 1994), Emily (Michael), Tayla, Jaden and Daniel. He will also be fondly remembered by is brothers Ron (Cheryl), and Vern (Mary), his sister Kathy Carmichael (Ken Saucier) and his sisters in law Jane and Judy Watling.  A long time employee of the City of North Bay, Dave retired in 1994 as the Director of Public Works. He was a dedicated member of North Bay Lodge No. 617, A.F. & A.M., the Rorab Shrine Club, St. John’s Chapter R.A.M. No. 103, Harington Preceptory, No. 14. and the York Rite College.  Dave was a devoted member of the Rorab Shrine Club and served many years as the director of the Cycle Unit.  Dave’s life revolved around his family and he was happiest when surrounded by his grandchildren. He loved the outdoors—snowmobiling, fishing and hunting with his family and friends. He will be truly missed by his loving wife Suzanne and beloved dogs Sammy and Mojo, along with his family and friends.  Visitation will be held at the Martyn Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon, August 20th, from 12 noon until 2:00pm.  Masonic service will be held at 2:00pm followed immediately by a funeral service to celebrate Dave’s life.  If desired donations to the Shriner’s Hospital for Sick Children will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
