Edmund Joseph Mechefske, 85 of Elmvale, Ontario passed away suddenly at home. He was born in Trout Creek to Bill and Maudie Mechefske. Ed retired from the RCAF in Cold Lake Alberta in 1977 after 25 years of service. He then went on to open a Beaver Lumber store and Budget Rent-A-Car franchise. Before he finally fully retired he was a commissionaire for the Cold Lake Air Force Base. He moved back to Ontario after reconnecting with his high school sweetheart Arlene Sheriff. They settled in Elmvale and spent five happy years together, until she sadly passed away in 2011. He enjoyed passing time by curling; he joined various curling clubs throughout his lifetime depending on where he was located, finally becoming a member of the Elmvale Curling Club. Ed is survived by his children Theresa, Christine and David, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Gordon. Ed was the dear brother of Leona Lang of Powassan, Myrna Schlosser of North Bay and the late Joan Burns, Ken, Kelvin, Elmer and Kevin Mechefske. Spring interment and graveside memorial service will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Trout Creek. Details to be announced.
