MARTIN, Frances Marie (Née Lafleche) 1913-2004

At the West Nipissing General Hospital in Sturgeon Falls, January 18, 2004 in her 91st year, with her family by her side. Loving mother of Margaret (Claude Lalonde) Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Jack D. Martin (late Jane), North Bay. Dear grandmother of Micheline (Terry Trottier), Marc Lalonde, Robert Lalonde (Maria), Kendra Jill (Alain Forest) and Jason Martin (fiancée Anne Kirik). Great-grandmother of Stephanie, Taylor, Bailey, Danielle, Corey, Joey and Alexandria. Predeceased by her husband Roy A. Martin (March 21/2003); her parents, Exilda and Joseph Lafleche; brothers, Joe, John, Simon and Wilfrid Lafleche; and two sisters, Alice Mayor and Auxilia Lacroix. Survived by one brother, Gerard (Pete) Lafleche (Timmins); four sisters; Jeanne Britton (London), Fern Moon (Sturgeon Falls), Helen Drennan (Sudbury) ard Jacqueline .Forbes (Cambridge). Mrs. Martin was a member of PDAC (Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada). She was also a member of COPA (Canadian Owners and Pilots Association). She often accompanied her husband Roy on many of his trips throughout Canada, USA, Mexico and Australia. She maintained homes in Mina, Nevada, La Paz and Navajoa (Mexico); Laverton, Australia; and later in Sturgeon Falls during their retirement years. Frances and Roy were much admired by their mining peers and were considered the perfect partners. They were a team. She will be sadly missed by her family, her loving nieces and nephews, and by her many friends around the world. Her family gratefully thanks Sue Moon and the staff at the West Nipissing General Hospital for the loving care she received while she was there. As per her wishes, a private memorial service was held at the THÉORET FUNERAL HOME to celebrate her life on Wednesday, January 21. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Théorêt Funeral Home with cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium. In memory of Mrs. Martin, donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated.
