With family by his side, it is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Danny Mantha on January 17, at the age of 72.
Born in North Bay, moving to South River in 1985, Danny will be remembered for his fun-loving personality, his passion for sports and camping, and a 28-year career at the North Bay Psychiatric Hospital.
Accomplishments he was very proud of included his participation on the Gateway Delivery Fastball team that earned him a spot on the North Bay Hall of Fame Wall by winning the Ontario Amateur Softball Association (OASA) Championships. Also, his participation on the North Bay Trappers Junior Hockey Team in his younger years, as well as playing College and men's league hockey.
Danny's passion for hockey continued as he coached competitive Bantam and Midget Minor Hockey Association teams. Coaching held a special place in his heart: He was so proud of the young men he was able to coach through the years.
Community was also important to Danny as he was a past member of the South River Lions Club, South River Agricultural association, and served on the South River/Machar Recreation Committee. He is best described by a co-worker: "Whenever you see Danny coming down the hall, you just start to smile!"
Danny is survived by his wife Lynn (Linda Lee Pinkerton), his sons Lee and Kevin (Ashley), daughter Kelly Lynn Wager (Wade), granddaughters Paige, Addison and Molly, and brother Barry Mantha (Susan)
Predeceased by his parents Mildred and Leo Mantha of North Bay.

Donations in memory of Danny to the Avery Seca Youth in Sports Foundation or the Multiple Sclerosis Society would be greatly appreciated by the family. Visitation at the Raney Funeral Chapel on Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 1-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
