Today, on June 28, 2022, at the young age of 68, God called our Special Angel to his side. We thank Him for sparing him 33 years ago and giving us this time with him. He leaves behind his wife and life partner Sue (Dwyer) and loving daughter Martina Arend (Nick) along with his adored granddaughters Alexia and Jacklyn.

He was the son of John and Eva Leslie (Stevens) deceased and is survived by his brothers David (Helen) and Gordon (Linda) as well as nieces Tamara Hamilton, (Steve), Lori Auger, (Paul), Christine Giesbrecht (Carl) and Angie Luczak and he was a big teddy bear to all of his great nieces and nephew.

Jack was born and raised in North Bay and while attending Chippewa High School he worked at the Dairy Queen and the ski hill. From there he joined and retired from the North Bay Hydro where he served a few terms as Union President. Then he went on to work (socialize) at Home Depot until his health started to fail. With his distinguished and infectious laugh, you always knew when Jack was in the room or area.

He was a very active Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 599 West Ferris, taking on two terms as Branch President, one term as Zone H2 Commander and was a District Officer for many years. During these years Jack and Sue managed to travel this country from Vancouver to Halifax attending Conventions and meetings and making new friends.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and some libation in front of a roaring campfire in the diver area. In later years camping turned into glamping on the Sturgeon River with John and Lucy and of course in keeping with the Stevens family traditions hours of playing cards.

We would like to send out a very special thank you to the remarkable North Bay Regional Health Centre Renal Unit Team and to the kind and caring nurses and doctors on 3C who took such good care of him for the last three years. As per his wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held for Jack at the West Ferris Legion, Branch 599, on Friday, August 12, 2022 between the hours of 1pm to 4 pm.

There will be a Legion Tribute starting at 1pm followed by a light lunch and an afternoon of friends and family joining together in sharing memories of Jack.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Renal Unit at the North Bay Regional Health Centre or a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
