(1935-2020) – Melda passed away peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Sunday September 13th at the age of 84 years. Loving mother to Terry (Celine). She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Brandon (Sophie), Tory and great grandson Noah as well as by many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her siblings Lawrence (Joanne), Alex (Linda), Evelyn (Norm Beaudette) and Lillian Curnew. Predeceased by her brothers Arthur, Andrew, Oliver, Albert and Paul.
Melda was a devoted Gookmis (Grandmother). She enjoyed spending time with family and time with her grandsons was very dear to her heart.
A well respected elder in her First Nation community, Melda will always be remembered for her beautiful spirit and kindness to others. Many would remember her as the lovely lady that worked for many years at Walsh’s Restaurant in Sturgeon Falls.
The family would like to give a special recognition to the Nipissing First Nation Health Unit for their outstanding care.
Family receiving friends at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Rd, on Saturday September 19th from 6 until 8 pm. A celebration of her life will follow at the funeral home at 8 pm.
Donations to Diabetes Canada in memory of Melda would be appreciated by her family.
