Lapierre, Shirley

Our hearts are saddened as we share the news of the passing of our dearly loved Mother on July 23, 2021, surrounded by the love of her family.  Theresa Shirley Lapierre (Decaire) was born January 27, 1937 in Mattawa to John and Mary Decaire.  She was predeceased by her loving husband Lorne, in October 2002.  Shirley is survived by her two sons David (Kim) and Michael (Brenda).  Also left to morn her passing are her five grandsons Michael (Robyn), Christopher (Sara), Nicholas (Erin), Devin (Desiree), Keith (Billy), and seven great grandchildren, Conor, Kennedy, Porter, Zoe, Lauren, Cole and Leo.

Shirley is survived by her sister Valada Gardiner (Bobby pre deceased) and brother Donald Decaire (Bev). She was pre deceased by sisters Vernice, Bernadette, Rita (Fred predeceased) and brothers Rudolph, Andrew (Sheila) and Leslie (Claire).

After her marriage to Lorne, life in the Military brought them to many locations including the Yukon, Victoria, Quebec and finally making North Bay their home. Shirley worked several years as the office manager for Wallace and Carr.

Shirley’s love for her family was insurmountable. She was “Nan” to her 5 grandson who she loved dearly and played a huge role in their lives growing up. We will all cherish those wonderful memories.

Respecting Shirley’s wishes, Cremation will be taking place and a private interment of ashes will be arranged at St Stanislaus Cemetery in Sudbury where she will be laid to rest with her husband Lorne.

Home is where your heart is and Mattawa was that to Shirley.  Prior to COVID, Shirley’s wishes were to take a day trip to Mattawa.  In keeping with her wishes the family will be arranging a private Interment of ashes at the graveside of her parents.

“Mom, Your Life was a Blessing, Your Memory a Treasure, you are loved beyond words and Missed Beyond Measure”
