With broken hearts, Herbert's family announces his sudden death on January 27th. He was born in Saltzburg, Austria and passed away peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Centre. He is survived by children Heidi (Doug Fraser), Krista (Mike Hall), Karl (Michelle Ma), Julianna (Andrew Brown) and Anthony Hildner; grandchildren Keely Brown, Liam Brown and Clark Hall; the mother of his children, Evelyn Wagstaff; and extended family in Austria. He will be greatly missed by his long-time companion, Fran Irwin. He was predeceased by his parents Anton and Juliane Hildner and sisters Elly and Antonia.

After spending his childhood and teenage years in Austria, he immigrated to Canada in 1960. First living in Toronto and then relocating to South River. As a dedicated family man and avid outdoorsman, he left a positive and

profound impact by sharing his love of the outdoors with his children and grandchildren. Sport and recreation was a lifelong passion that he shared with his family and friends. Throughout his life, he was a fisherman and hunter and he greatly enjoyed pickleball and curling. By profession, he was a pipe and gas fitter. He took great pride in his profession and was a well known and proud member of UA Local 46.

The visitation will be on Monday February 3rd from 2-5pm at McGuinty Funeral Home (591 Cassells St, North Bay). Donations may be made in his memory to the Strong Kids campaign through the North Bay YMCA.
