HARVEY, Lorraine

Harvey, Lorraine
It is with great sadness that our mother Lorraine Harvey, age 84, passed away on February 10, 2021. She was a Canada Day baby, born on July 1, 1936 in Toronto, Ontario to Gwendolyn and Dr. Reginald White. She married the love of her life Robert Walter Harvey over sixty years ago, on November 11th 1954. Lorraine is survived by her three daughters Kim (Glen Quirt), Susan (Chris Robertshaw), Rhonda (Jeff Tiller), two wonderful grandsons Robert and Troy Tiller, and several nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her father Reginald and her mother Gwendolyn, her husband Robert, her sister Joan and brother-in-law Cup Gunning.
In Lorraine’s early years she loved to sew and do crafts. She was so talented she could sew anything to wear, including Kim’s wedding dress. She learned many crafts, such as needlepoint, cross stitch, and especially quilting by hand.
Lorraine loved to be active socially and had many friends. She and Robert spent over 35 winters in Florida where she participated in craft classes, line dancing, pool exercises and being crowned a “shuffling champion”. She loved riding her bike “The White Rocket” in the mobile home park and on the beautiful local trail. Lorraine was also an avid baseball fan, enjoying many Blue Jay games at Spring Training in Dunedin, Florida.
She loved spending time with her grandsons, Robert and Troy.  She was famous for spoiling them with home cooked Sunday morning breakfasts and teaching them to appreciate nature.
Lorraine left this world peacefully, with a smile of anticipation to be with and see her beloved “Bobby” again.
A big thank you to Lorraine’s family doctor, Dr. Quinn, for all her wonderful care and help over the years. And special thanks to all the fantastic nurses, doctors and staff on C-3 at the NBRH. They took excellent care of Lorraine while she was in the hospital.
A small Celebration of Life will be held in the spring by her family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of your choice.
