Doug Groves died on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Eastholme, Home for the Aged, in his 76th year. He was the beloved husband of Maureen Margaret Rose Alice (Whalen) of Golden Valley, father of Shawn (Christine) of Kingston and Kelly (Tom Schulz) of Victoria, BC, grandfather of Ashley, Alexandra, Hannah, Olivia & William and great-grandfather of Benjamin and Ava. Doug was predeceased by his parents Duncan and Lola (Lett) Groves and is survived by his siblings Allen (Sandra) of Beachburg, Hilda of London, Brenda (Harley Solman) of North Bay, Dennis (Ann) of Charlotte, S.C., Mark of Timmins, Laurie (Gilles Lafontaine) of North Bay and Linda of New Liskeard. A Masonic Tribute will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #415, Port Loring on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 12:50 pm, followed by a visitation from 1:00 to 1:50 pm, a Legion Tribute at 1:50 pm, and a Funeral Service at 2:00 pm. Cremation to follow with interment of ashes in St. Paul’s Cemetery at a later date. If desired, donations in memory of Doug to the Alzheimer’s Society are suggested.
