(January 11, 1935 to December 30, 2019)

Lloyd Fountain died peacefully surrounded by the love of his family at his home in North Bay, Ontario on Monday December 30, 2019.

In a sib line of 11 children he is survived by his brother Reginald and sister Bonnie. Lloyd is predeceased by his parents Russell and Ethel Pearl (nee Burgess).

Dearly loved father of Jody (Kathleen), Jeanie, Jeffrey (Chrissy). Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his five grandchildren Jordan, Kourtney, Shayla, Amber, Joshua and five great-grandchildren.

Born and raised in Sundridge, Ontario, Lloyd moved to North Bay with his new bride Nancy (nee Brandt) in 1959 where he started a family and worked as a skilled machinist at Longyear, Jarvis Clark and J&J Machine Shop. He was also known for his carpentry and block laying skills and could be found working on his home or helping friends in the evenings and on weekends. In the 1980’s and 1990’s, Lloyd achieved top scores in bowling, and was well known locally as a Horseshoe player winning the Northern Ontario Championship three years in a row.  In his golden years he could be found on weekends dancing at the Golden Age Club, playing cards, and fishing. He also tapped into a natural talent of poetry writing.

Lloyd was an outgoing, honest and fun-loving person who could light up any room with laughter by telling jokes and funny stories. He was a kind and generous man who always looked out for the lowly one and would open his heart and his home to those in need.

The family would like to thank Dr. Joel Carter, Dr. Mike Leckie and all the staff at Near North Medical Clinic for their exceptional care and compassion.

A private, family celebration of Lloyd’s life will take place in the fall of 2020 at one of Lloyd’s favorite fishing spots.

Arrangements entrusted to Basic Cremation Services.
