It is with great sadness, that the family announces the passing of Roland (Ron) Fortin. He passed away peacefully with loved ones at his side.
He was a loving husband to Margaret for 53 years and an amazing father to Nicole (Stephen Levesque) and Claire and grandfather to Meagan and Matthew. Ron was predeceased by his parents Emilia and Rene, his brothers Maurice (Estelle), Mathias, and Leo and his sister Rejeanne.
Ron took advantage of his retirement 28 years ago and could often be found on the golf course in the early years, the pool hall in later years or socializing down at the waterfront…his most favourite spot in North Bay. He always had a hearty “hello” and a big smile for everyone he met.
The family wishes to thank Dr Brian Shaw, Home and Community Care Support Services North East and the North Bay Regional Health Centre who took such great care of him this past month. We are so grateful for their compassion and dedication.
Family receiving friends at Hillside Funeral Services, 362 Airport Rd, on Thursday July 29th from 1 until 2 pm. A funeral service will follow at 2 pm at the funeral home. As per current COVID 19 directives the total number of attendees is limited and masks or face coverings are required inside the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your charity of choice in Ron’s honour.
