Mary Fetherston, a long-time resident of North Bay, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 1, 2019 at the North Bay Regional Hospital at the age of 96. Mary was the beloved and devoted wife of the late Robert M. “Bob” Fetherston. Bob predeceased her on February 1, 2004. Mary was the proud and loving mother of Dr. Robert “Bob Jr.” and his wife Marianne of Windsor, Susan Onions and her husband Mike of Guelph, Patty Henderson and her husband Rob of Orillia, Garry of Windsor, and Brian of Kenora. “Nana Mary” will be forever remembered by her 7 grandchildren Amanda, James, and Gregory Onions, Ryan and Jason Henderson, Alexis and Troy Fetherston, along with her 9 great-grandchildren. Mary is survived by her sister Barbara Adamson of Mississauga, along with her cousin Dave Evans and his wife Valerie of North Bay. Mary and Bob moved to North Bay in 1955, where they were very active within the community. The Fetherston family were well-known horsemen throughout the north and competed in many competitions and fall fairs. Mary was a very dedicated and active member of various organizations including IODE, Trinity United Church, the North Bay Yacht Club, North Bay Legion, the Nipissing Light Horse Association, and Beta Sigma Phi. Mary enjoyed painting, music, dancing, golfing, and spending time at the family cottage. Mary and Bob spent many winters together at their home in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. Cremation has taken place and a service to celebrate Mary’s wonderful life will be held at The Martyn Funeral Home, North Bay on Saturday, April 20th, 2019. Visitation will take place from 12:30-2:30pm with a memorial service beginning at 2:30pm. A sincere thank you to the entire hospital staff of 3B, and to Kym from Lori’s Tender Care for her kindness and compassion towards Mary.
