With great sorrow, the family announces the passing of Margaret at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on January 25, 2020.

She died peacefully in her 99th year with family at her side. Margaret was the dearest ‘Mum’ of Vonnie Shore (Terry) and Max Valyear (Marita) of North Bay and Reg Valyear (Louise) of Brantford. Grandma will be sadly missed by grandchildren Stacy Hebert (Gilles) and Steven Shore (Laurie) of North Bay, Murray Valyear (Karen) of Calgary, Ken Valyear (Lovesha) of Llanfairfechan, Wales and Max David Valyear of Belleville. Great-granny will be fondly remembered by great-grandchildren Robyn Hebert, Devin and Ryan Shore, Madeline and Katelyn Valyear, Barlow Valyear and Ashley Valyear. She will be dearly missed by many including the Blackmore family and friends and staff at Cassellholme.

Margaret was born October 2, 1921 in Belleville, Ontario to Violet (nee Hannah, died 1926) and Wilbur Johnson (died 1967). She was also predeceased by her husbands Howard Valyear (1948) and Max (Andy) Endicott (1981); her stepmom Hazel Johnson, (nee Yarrow, 2004); brother Max (Mickey) Johnson (1942); and her grandson Shane Valyear (1994). Mum enjoyed life – whether while cooking, crafting, camping, gardening, or dancing, but mainly while spending time with family. She ever inspired us with her positive and cheerful nature and her strong desire to maintain her independence and dignity. She will be remembered for her smile, love of flowers, her party cookies and eagerness to go for a car ride.

Margaret was employed by Food City, Canadian Tire and Shoppers Drug Mart while living in North Bay. The family would like to thank Drs. Prins, Wallace and Buckley and the nurses and support staff on unit B3 at the NBRHC during Margaret’s final days of care. Margaret resided at Cassellholme since November 2017, where she found many friends among staff and residents alike. Donations in her name to the charity of your choice would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.

The Family will be receiving friends at the McGuinty Funeral Home in North Bay on Tuesday January 28, 2020 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm. A funeral service will be conducted to celebrate Margaret’s Life on Wednesday January 29, 2020 at 2pm in the McGuinty Funeral Home Chapel.
