Edmunds Ollie

After stick-handling the rink of life, the puck has dropped for the final time, for the greatest right winger we’ve ever known, our mom. Born April 22,1926 in Chapleau and a long-time resident of North Bay, Ontario Ollie passed peacefully on April 12, 2020 at her residence in Val Caron with son Bill by her side. Mom strapped on a pair of hockey skates at an early age and played pickup hockey, known as the Flying Moms, well into her sixties. Hockey was the household game. She either played, watched, or volunteered her services to the West Ferris Minor Hockey, normally on the sewing machine mending hockey jerseys or working in the canteen. Mom enjoyed knitting and annually donated handmade mittens to the IODE Victory Shop for the less fortunate.

Beloved wife of the late Norman Charles Edmunds (2012) of 64 years. She is predeceased by parents Howard and Kate Cummings, sister Gene Gordon and brothers Wesley (Bill) and George. Ollie is survived by her sister Shirley White (Robert), daughter Barbara Edmunds, sons Bill Edmunds (Annie), and Bruce Edmunds (Liz Addison). She was proud of her family and took great interest in the careers and career paths of her grandchildren Kelly (Mark), Kim, Rhonda (Charles), and Donna (Phil) and great grandchildren Brandon, Jamie, Kyra, Dominique, Pascale, Kaitlyn, and Christian.

In this time of uncertainty, the family wishes everyone to be safe and will have a family gathering to celebrate her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers and traditional expressions of condolences, the family asks that you extend a smile or kind gesture to your fellow citizens in your community. Monetary donations or offers of PPE to your local hospital or long-term care facility would have pleased mom. Arrangements entrusted to Martyn Funeral Home.
