DESPRES, Charles J.

Died peacefully on December 3, 2003 at the Temiskaming Hospital, Charles was born in North Bay, Ontario on October 24, 1921 to Charles J. Despres and Rose Bourque. Educated in New Liskeard, he married Aline Champagne, August 23, 1948. Charles is survived by his wife Aline, one son Charles and his wife Helene (Pilon), one grandson Charles Eric and one granddaughter Vivyanne. He is also survived by one sister, Therese (John Scully). He was predeceased by three brothers, Tom, Arthur, Wildrid and one sister, Ida. Charles worked two years for the Northern Power Company before serving with the Canadian Army during WWII. He joined Ontario Hydro in 1946 until his retirement in 1983. Then, he was engaged in the leisure activities of woodworking and fishing, combined with some travel. Charles was a lifelong member of the Roman Catholic Church. A Eucharistic Celebration, conducted by Father F. Lafond, his parish priest, will be held at the Sacred Heart Church, Dymond Crescent, New Liskeard, Ontario with Interment of Ashes at New Liskeard Catholic Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation or the Daffodil Lodge. The family extends their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all the staff at the Terniskaming Hospital for their compassionate care. A very special thank you to Dr. Jean Corbin, Centre de Sante, nurses Simone and Shirley and to Father Lafond.
