CLARKSON, Margaret Jessie

On Monday, April 12th, 2004 lifetime North Bay resident Margaret Clarkson died peacefully in her sleep. The beloved and devoted daughter of the late David and Jessie Clarkson, Margaret was born in North Bay on January 30, 1915. She will be remembered by many as the Chief Librarian at the North Bay Public Library, a career she devoted herself to from February 1959 until retiring in 1979. In 1982 the new children's wing of the library was named in her honour. She received a special Canada 125 medal in 1973 for her contribution to the community. Margaret was also an honoured recipient of a Paul Harris Fellow from the Rotary Club. A faithful Christian, Margaret has been a member of First Baptist Church since 1925. She also participated in many local clubs and organizations, volunteering her time unselfishly. Margaret blessed many lives and was dearly loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her family Jane Levie, Mark Paolo, Tracie and Frank Coccimiglio, and Fiona, Clare and Catriona Fagan and several cousins. She will be dearly missed by all of her wonderful friends and the many young people who loved her like a grandmother. Friends may call at First Baptist Church, 1250 Cassells Street, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. Funeral services to celebrate Margaret's life will be held in the sanctuary at 2 p.m. Cremation will follow, with interment of ashes in the family plot in North Bay Union Cemetery. Donations to First Baptist Church, the Younge Street Mission, or the charity of your choice will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
