On August 3, 2022; Gerard Lionel Chatelain passed away peacefully at the age of 68, surrounded by the love of his family.

Gerard was Beloved and devoted husband of Martine Chatelain. Proud father of Denis and Robert Chatelain. Cherished son of Lionel Chatelain and Ella  Chatelain. Adored grandfather to Dreyden, Ashton, Trinity, and Ella Chatelain. His dedication and love were felt by his daughter-in-laws Dianne and Crystal. He was a loved brother to Hermance (Ernest), Armand (Ellen), Rolland (Aline), Roger, Rene, Yvon (Darlene), Marcel (Darlene), Lucille, Vital (Vicki), Yvonne (Gordon), Joseph, Pierrette (Dave), Colette(Bill), and Gerald(Jane). He was brother-in-law to Joanne (Marc), Louise (Regean), Christine (Pierre). Loved son-in-law to Andre Fortin and Lucienne Fortin. He was uncle to many nieces and nephews, and a cousin to many, many more. He was survived by many loving family and friends.

Those who knew Gerard; knew that he had a big heart and that his family was the most important thing to him. He dedicated much of his time and energy to his grandkids. He would often say “My family is all I need; I don’t need anything else. I’m rich with love” He was always willing to give and receive the biggest hugs, and he always had open arms. His friends will remember him for his charming sarcasm, jokes, and “Coffees”. He always enjoyed conversation and company. Those who knew him well and spent time with him knew they were loved.

Gerard has made us all better people for knowing him. It was a privilege and honor to be a part of his life. We cannot express how much he will be dearly missed.

The family would like to express a heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and support staff that showed compassion and gave outstanding care at North Bay Regional Health Centre. We appreciate you and all that you do!

As per his wishes; a celebration of life will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice in his honor. Online condolences may be made at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
