CARLYLE, Albert “Al”

June 3, 1936 – January 6, 2023

After a long struggle Albert has been reunited with his loving wife, Eileen (nee Hicks) (2021). He passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his children, John (Brenda), Susan Gardiner (Gord), Tom, and Robert (Krista). Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Dawn, Lyndsey, Matthew, Daniel, Jasper, and Matthew as well as his great grandchildren. Albert was the last of his generation, predeceased by his parents John and Margaret Carlyle, and siblings Garfield, Bob, Sarah, Rena, Leslie, Betty, Pat, Percy and Josephine.

Albert was kind, generous, thoughtful towards others and helped those in need.

In their younger years, He and Eileen were active in the Iron Bridge community helping with the many festivals and events. In the winter, Albert could be found at the arena tying skates, tending the concession stand, helping behind the bench and performing any other tasks that needed to be done.

Albert was extremely knowledgeable about guns and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. His family meant everything to him. He opened his home every fall, making sure the family participated in the “fall hunt” which remains a ritual to this day.

He was a long-time employee for the MTO working his way through the ranks eventually becoming a well-respected supervisor. Albert never asked his men to do anything he wouldn't, and often lent a helping hand to his crew if they were short. At his retirement presentation the spokesperson said he had never worked with a more honest person.

Albert will be missed by all who knew him.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Beggs Funeral Home, Bayshore Nurses, Nurse Practitioner Staff and NSHN-Blind River for their care and compassion to our father and family.

Private family interment at Carlyle Cemetery will be held at a later date.
