Peacefully at North Bay General Hospital- Scollard Site with her family at her side on Thursday May 15, 2008. Beloved wife of Robert Cameron “Ian”. Loving mother of Dianne of Toronto, Robert (Veronica) and Moira. Cherished grandmother of Heather, Taylor, Breanna, and Makenna. Helen is also survived by many nieces and nephews in Canada and Scotland. Predeceased by her parents William and Elizabeth Carson, brother John Carson, and sister Madge St. Jean. Helen was born in Catrine, Ayrshire, Scotland on June 1, 1937. She moved to Canada with her family in 1963. She worked as an RPN at NBPH and at St. Joseph's Hospital. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Nipissing University in 1976 and later worked as a councellor with the Crisis Centre and the North Bay & District Association for Community Living. Helen loved singing and listening to all kinds of music. The family would like to thank all of the staff on the 3rd floor at Casselholme for the wonderful care that they have given Helen over the past 5 years. Friends may call at MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from City Hall) on Monday, May 19th from 12 p.m. until time of service in the Chapel at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers a donation to the NBGH Foundation would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
